iPhone water damage: what to do right now

Water-resistant isn't waterproof, and the rating fades with age. If your iPhone went into a pool, toilet or the sea, what you do in the next hour matters more than anything we do later.

Do this now

  1. Switch it off if it's still on.
  2. Don't charge it — not even to check if it still works.
  3. Take off the case and remove the SIM tray.
  4. Wipe the outside dry and bring it to an outlet as soon as you can.
Skip the bag of rice. It doesn't pull water out of the phone, and rice dust gets into the ports. Seawater is worse than fresh water — come in the same day.

What we do

The technician opens the phone, checks where the liquid reached, and cleans the board before corrosion spreads. Only then can we see which parts actually failed — often the screen, charging port or a section of the board.

You get a quote for those parts before any paid work goes ahead. If the phone can't be saved, we'll tell you, and help with getting your data off if that's still possible.

Honest expectations

We can't promise every water-damaged iPhone will work again. It depends on the type of liquid, how long it was wet, and whether it was switched on or charged afterwards. Warranty on liquid-damaged phones depends on what we end up repairing, and the technician will explain it before you agree.

Tell us the model and what happened.

Prices depend on the model and the part, so we don't list them here. A WhatsApp message gets you an exact quote before any paid work starts.
